Natural bath mix for sensitive skin - recipe.

I actually sold this at one point on my Ecomonkey website. It was a mix that I made up when we were dealing with my oldest child's eczema. Just a couple of spoonfuls in the bath every second night and she was clean.

It contains Himalayan bath salts to cleanse, vitamin c to neutralize chlorine, Epsom salts to relax, is scented with relaxing lavender oil, invigorating orange oil. The addition of the soap nuts makes it an awesome all round cleanser that is gentle and natural on skin.

The ingredients

Epsom salts - are a naturally occurring pure mineral compound of magnesium and sulfate and are readily absorbed through the skin and into the body's blood stream.

Magnesium helps to improve muscle and nerve function, reduces inflammation and improves blood flow and oxygenation throughout the body and sulfates are necessary building blocks for healthy joints, skin and nervous tissue. Epsom salts are a great way to relieve constipation in babies too.

Himalayan bath salt - A warm bath infused with Himalayan pink salt is fantastic for relaxing cramped muscles. It can bring great relief with its antiseptic qualities, and can enable your skin to heal.

Orange oil - Has antiseptic, anti-inflammatory, antibacterial and calming qualities.

Vitamin C - Neutralizes chlorine, vitamin C also keeps the bath water slightly acidic, which keeps your skin's acid mantle healthy (read more about the acid mantle HERE)

Glycerine - Is important to use if you are wanting to add essential oils into your bath, it softens the skin and also helps to retain moisture in the skin.

Lavender - Is the ultimate relaxation oil and is also antibacterial.

Soap nuts - Are a natural cleanser! They are a berry that grows in the Himalayas and the shell contains a natural soap called saponin. Soap nuts are gentle on skin, making them ideal for those with sensitive skin, eczema, allergies and psoriasis.

The Recipe

100g Epsom salts

50g - Himalayan salts

Orange oil - 3 drops

lavender oil - 3 drops

Glycerine - 1/4 ml

Vit c - 1/4 teaspoon

Soap nuts - 1 teaspoon

Blitz the ingredients in a blender (makes it so it will dissolve in the bath quicker), then decanter into a jar. use a couple of heaped spoonfuls into the bath each time.

The added soap nuts make this product an all round cleanser for bath time that is gentle and allergy friendly. I formulated this recipe to be relaxing and most importantly beneficial and gentle on skin.
